Life as A Research Assistant 1

Hie hie! For those of you who are too bored to scroll down and read my previous entries, here's a new start.

I'm now a 1st year 2nd sem student in UPM, pursuing Master of Science in Psychology of Child Development. A supposedly full-time student, yet, a full-time research assistant to a professor here too. We are currently working on a nation-wide study on parenting behavior and adolescents' well-being. A 6 digit funding from the university.

Together with another 2 colleagues, Sandy and Chiah, my role as a research assistant is to be the research manager. I manage accounts, filings, documents, minutes, meetings, research report. In one word, I'm a MULTI-TASKER!!

I'm also Prof's Personal Assistant (PA), doing some of her personal admin work. A list of my tasks?? Filling up forms, claims, finding articles, writing abstracts, scanning and uploading for her KM Portal, banking in cheques, translation, writing letters..these are just a few of admin work. Research related work?? Questionnaire, writing report, reading, reading, finding articles, writing, application, presentation....

Working time? Officially, 8am - 5pm weekdays. Unofficially, 24/7!! Anytime of the day, when there's work to do, the folder on my email that says 'RUGS' will be bolded with a (1) or (2) or (??) beside it. Just in one day, that folder can be bombarded with 10+ emails. A nightmare at times.

Well..got to head back to work. Adding another 2 scales into our extreme questionnaire.
